Some months ago, I itched for a different type of motoring thrill; little did I know the rotary roar of a Racing Beat 6 speed Mazda RX-8 GT would scratch it.
A couple of years ago, I sold my Honda Prelude Si and opted for none other than the ultimate driving machine, an M Performance Bmw 330i, code name ZHP. I love my 330i, but in all truth, I’ve missed my prelude since the day I delivered it to its new owner.
As I got accustomed to driving a classier and more refined type of performance vehicle in the Bmw, I still longed for the type of thrill I once had when I owned the prelude in my college years; the pure pleasure of driving what is known to some as a driver’s car; a sporty and slightly different car, with some serious guts.
The 10,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) range, the cornering agility, the melody of the mechanical parts working together, the jet fighter like engine and transmission noises (amongst others), are a few of the reasons why my Mazda RX-8 GT (simply put) brings “sexy back”; in all of its aspects.
Although the RX-8 is an attractive looking car, it has its own state of mind. That’s precisely why you can’t just drive it, you have to understand it; so you can tame it. From the downtown backstreets to the open roads, the 8 is a heck of a daily driver; and it’s practical too.
Although they are complete opposites in the way they require to be driven, my 330i and RX-8 are both thrilling performance machines. It makes the end result that much more exciting whether it’s by driving them like the silver bullets they are, or by simply walking circles around them and enjoying the stunning visuals.

Very nice article! Congrats on the whip, glad you’re enjoying the car.
