Burning one thousand calories

I frequently change up my workouts in order to avoid reaching a plateau point; the one thing that makes certain people quit working at staying fit, while others go through completely unproductive workouts that result in wasted time.

Instead of going through another plyometric workout session, I jumped on the treadmill during my lunch hour, and did away with a bit over 1000 calories in under 44 minutes. The important thing to note here is that I don’t run this type of distance regularly, but from time to time, it’s good to surprise the body with an activity it’s not expecting.

I took a few pictures as visual aid for the performance.

Treadmill run time: 44 minutes and change
Cool down time: 5 minutes

  • Pace: 6 to 6.3 minutes per mile
  • Top speed: 12.5 mph
  • Avg speed: 10 mph
  • Calories burnt: 1000 +
  • Avg heart rate: 152-155 BPM (beats per minute)
  • Running distance: 7.10 miles
  • Total distance: 7.5 miles

Reaching 7 miles

Slowing down from 10 mph to 3.9mph for cool down.

  • heart rate: 150 BMP and dropping

Cool down.

  • Heart rate  steadily dropping @ 112 BPMs, over the 1000 calories burnt count.
